Data Upgrade Checklist - Error

This error is almost always caused by not having the Configuration Keys enabled properly within the AX 2012 environment by the time you choose to connect to the source database. If you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with the Feature Pack code installed, there is an option to open the Configure application functionality window on the Data Upgrade checklist which appears after the Enter License information option. If you are using the original RTM release of Dynamics AX 2012, then you will need to open a Developer Workspace (Ctrl-D) and go to the AOT and choose Menus - SystemAdministration - Setup - Licensing - Licensing Configuration and choose Open to get to that window.

The most important information about enabling the configuration options is that for the upgrade, under Administration you must have the Keep upgrade objects options selected. You also should setup your other configuration options to match the way they were in the previous version in order to make sure all of your data comes across correctly. Some of these configuration keys have changed with Dynamics AX 2012, so in those cases you should choose whatever configuration option you intend to have in place when you go live with Dynamics AX 2012.
